A book description is marketing copy poured into a form with hard limits, and most of the limits only show themselves when KDP's dashboard rejects something:
Categories aren't free text either. The root has to be one of Amazon's real Books browse categories (Literature & Fiction, Mystery, Thriller & Suspense, Self-Help, Business & Money, Science Fiction & Fantasy, and 24 others). A plausible-sounding category with the wrong root, or only one level deep, gets dropped by KDP instead of accepted.
The words KDP quietly polices
Amazon's metadata guidelines ban specific categories of claims from both the description and the keywords: price and promotion language ("free," "on sale," "discount," "limited time"), unsubstantiated rank claims ("bestseller," "#1," "number one"), and references to Kindle Unlimited or "new release." A generic writing tool slips into this language constantly. It's exactly what marketing copy defaults to.
